Innovative biomass fermentation process to create a probiotic yeast-based ingredient for dog oral health, aiming to reduce plaque, control bad breath, and support gum health through microbiome modulation.
This cutting-edge solution involves the development of a microbial oral health ingredient for dogs, produced through biomass fermentation. The key innovation lies in utilizing a food-grade probiotic yeast to create a powder rich in postbiotics, such as β glucans and mannoproteins, which are known to modulate the oral microbiome. This ingredient aims to reduce plaque, control bad breath, and support gum health by shifting the ecology of the canine oral microbiome. The ingredient is neutral in taste and smell, stable at room temperature, and can be easily integrated into dog food or as a spray.
The technology is currently at TRL 3, with pilot studies demonstrating reproducibility and efficiency. Future validation plans include optimizing fermentation conditions, developing prototype formats, and conducting in-vivo studies to monitor the gum microbiome and health in dogs. Field studies and regulatory documentation are planned to support product registration and market launch.
