Anti aging skincare expertsTesting is as large a cluster as treating on Halo. Nine entries are skin and follicle actives, and nine more are models built to evaluate one: skin organoids from stem cells, ex vivo human follicles under induced stress, donated human skin, and label-free imaging. Aging claims are the hardest to substantiate in cosmetics. On Halo it spans five groups, including skin repair and regeneration actives, models for testing an intervention, and follicle aging and hair loss.
Stage of development. Work on anti-aging solutions on Halo is split between university programs and companies. 46% of the solutions are in market. Co-development and sponsored research are the usual partnering routes, and about 47% of the solutions that state terms offer pilot engagements.
As much testing as treating. Nine entries are models: skin organoids from induced pluripotent stem cells, ex vivo human follicles put under induced stress and read by transcriptomics, donated human skin with donor variation preserved, CARS imaging with no label, and tape-stripped cytokines reading irritation before anything is visible. Aging is slow and the claim is regulated, so the assay is the product.
Follicle aging pulled in from two directions. Six entries treat the follicle as an aging problem, not a growth one: senolytic peptides screened by AI out of eggshell membrane, mitochondrial repair in follicle stem cells, a mitochondrial activator in sustained release tested against minoxidil, and phytoestrogens aimed at menopausal hair loss. The mechanisms named are the ones longevity research uses.
The active has to stay in contact. Six entries are delivery formats, and each one solves the same problem differently: an electrospun film that dissolves on the skin, a transparent silicone-hydrogel patch, dissolving microneedles under quantum dot LEDs, and high refractive index topicals that partition into the stratum corneum so a light therapy reaches deeper. A cosmetic that is washed off in a minute cannot do much.
Anti-aging solutions covers slowing or reversing a visible sign of aging, and proving it happened. It spans actives for skin repair and regeneration, work on follicle aging and hair loss, the ex vivo models and organoids used to test an intervention on human tissue, patches and sustained-release formats that hold an active in contact, and the platforms designing the next generation of actives.
