Dual myostatin/trpv3 botanical platform for muscle preservation and thermogenesis

ThymoTropin™ is a standardized, food-grade monoterpene ingredient (thymol ≥20%, carvacrol ≥10%) derived from thyme and oregano. It acts through a dual mechanism — myostatin downregulation and TRPV3 activation — supporting muscle mass, strength, physical performance, and thermogenic energy expenditure. This is a mechanism distinct from appetite suppression, making it relevant to lean-mass preservation during weight loss, healthy aging and sarcopenia, sports nutrition, and metabolic health. Preclinical (mouse, 20 mg/kg/day oral): +0.7°C increase in upper and lower body temperature (p=0.001), a direct thermogenic readout; +37% treadmill run distance over 5 weeks; +94% muscle fiber width; +7% quadriceps and +25% pectoralis muscle mass versus vehicle. Clinical (open-label, 60 days, adults >50, USA): 36.2% reduction in serum myostatin (p=0.046); 17.6% increase in strength; 9.6% increase in arm circumference. No serious adverse events; one mild transient report of bloating. Post-launch consumer follow-up in Canada (>2,000 units tracked): 94% would recommend, 82% would continue use. Formulation: Water-soluble (forms a clear solution), heat-stable to 100°C, 3-year shelf life, low inclusion dose. Compatible with capsules, powders, gummies, beverages, and baked formats. Actives are sourceable from thyme, oregano, or other botanicals, giving supply flexibility. Regulatory: FDA GRAS (21 CFR 182.10/182.20); FEMA 3064/3065; EFSA-approved for food supplements; Health Canada NPN-licensed; permitted food additive in China and Japan. No drug registration required for supplement use. Commercialized in Canada as StroVia™ (NPN 80134897). Status and next steps: The ingredient is in commercial production and market-launched as a natural health product. Therapeutic and translational indications are at an earlier stage: we are seeking partners for (1) co-development into functional food, beverage, and clean-label formats; (2) sponsored research and pilot studies in GLP-1-adjacent lean-mass preservation; (3) companion-animal metabolic applications, where canine tolerability, PD, and weight-management studies are still to be run; and (4) territory licensing outside North America.
