Solid-state fermentation partner for joint proposals: strain library, R&D, pilot scale-up and industry know-how

SFI is looking for partners on joint proposals across Horizon Europe, EIC, EIT Food, national innovation programs, bilateral R&D grants and industry RFPs. Focus areas: solid-state fermentation, side-stream valorization, alternative proteins, ag-biologicals, enzymes, biomaterials and circular bioeconomy.

What SFI brings -SSF expertise. One of the first CRO/CDMOs built entirely around solid-state fermentation. PhD-led team, 10+ years in SSF R&D, scale-up and tech transfer. -In-house strain library and inoculum know-how. Curated filamentous fungi, yeasts, actinomycetes and bacteria selected for SSF performance, with validated inoculum methods. Cuts months off early screening. -Full-stack SSF R&D. Strain and substrate screening, feedstock design, process development, DSP, formulation and stability, all in-house and SSF-native. -Dedicated pilot capability. Modular tray-based pilot running 10 to 500kg per cycle with controlled aeration, humidity and temperature. Real scale-up data. -End-to-end delivery. From PoC to pilot validation and handover to CMOs or in-house production. The consortium lead does not need to project-manage the SSF workstream. -Industry and market intelligence. Timeline Available for submissions from Q4 2026 through 2027. Can lead SSF work packages or contribute as specialist task partner.

Location Israel-based, active across EU, US, LATAM and APAC. Eligible for Horizon Europe associated-country schemes and bilateral programs (SIIRD, BIRD and similar).
