A sustainable co-delivery system using protein nanofibril-templated oleopolyhedrons to enhance micronutrient bioavailability. The solvent-free, digestible technology encapsulates both lipophilic and hydrophilic nutrients in a stable, solid-like oleogel matrix, supporting protection from oxidation and taste masking. Designed for use in capsules, softgels, gummies, and other functional foods.
A co-delivery system leverages protein nanofibril-templated oleopolyhedrons to deliver both lipophilic and hydrophilic micronutrients. The approach encapsulates nutrients such as vitamins D, E, K, CoQ10, and essential minerals within a stable, solid-like oleogel matrix. It is intended to enhance bioavailability and stability while masking off-tastes, supporting formulation into capsules, softgels, gummies, and other functional foods. By converting liquid oils into solid-like gels, the system is positioned as solvent-free and clean-label for dietary supplement applications.
The technology is currently at TRL 3, with initial validation complete. Planned next steps include further development and optimization, focusing on formulation optimization, stability and release profiling, and assessment of processing compatibility and bioavailability using in vitro models.
