Overview

The DIET2CoPe project focuses on evaluating the impact of two innovative food supplements designed to enhance cognitive performance in young adults. Addressing widespread nutritional deficits, these supplements are formulated with psychoactive molecules, essential vitamins, and minerals. The project targets young adults, a group increasingly affected by both under-nutrition and over-nutrition, leading to cognitive and mood impairments. The supplements aim to mitigate these effects by providing a synergistic blend that supports cognitive health.

Technical specifications

Key Components:

  • Psychoactive molecules: Enhance neurotransmitter activity to support cognitive functions.
  • Essential vitamins and minerals: Address deficiencies common in young adults due to unhealthy dietary habits.
  • Natural vs synthetic origin: Emphasizes the importance of natural ingredients for improved synergy and efficacy.

Study Design:

  • Participants: Young adults (≥ 18 years) from Sultan Moulay Slimane University, Morocco, and University of Minho, Portugal.
  • Randomized groups: Group I receives supplement A, Group II receives supplement B, and Group III acts as a control group.
  • Data Collection: Baseline and follow-up assessments of demographic, clinical, and mental health status.
Technology readiness level

This project is at Technology Readiness Level 5. The supplements have been initially validated, and a pilot study is underway to further assess their impact on cognitive performance in a controlled environment.
