Missouri State University is a comprehensive public university in Springfield with a strong applied research and workforce orientation. Its downtown IDEA Commons innovation district co‑locates university researchers with corporate tenants at the Roy Blunt Jordan Valley Innovation Center, offering tenant labs, shared equipment, and staff scientists to accelerate product development. The efactory provides incubation, accelerator programming, SBDC services, and flexible workspaces that connect companies to talent, mentorship, and training; students also engage through internships with resident firms. Research is supported by competitive federal funding alongside state and industry sponsors. A dedicated technology transfer function—and JVIC’s industry‑friendly IP terms—enable company‑owned IP and streamlined agreements.
