Hi Cell Renova is a plant-derived ethylene inhibitor that extends the shelf life of fruits by slowing starch conversion, improving size, and reducing premature ripening. Suitable for both pre and post-harvest applications, it offers a sustainable alternative to traditional inhibitors.

Hi Cell Renova® is a botanical post-harvest physiology platform engineered to redefine fruit ripening, storage management, and global food waste reduction. Ethylene is the master hormone governing fruit maturation, senescence, and post-harvest deterioration. Conventional technologies address this superficially — fruit coatings protect only the surface, while 1-MCP crudely blocks a single ethylene receptor using a synthetic molecule with no effect on the broader enzymatic cascade driving quality loss. Renova works from within, modulating endogenous ethylene dynamics while simultaneously inhibiting the full spectrum of enzymes responsible for post-harvest deterioration — delivering delayed ripening, preserved firmness, and extended storage life without compromising taste, texture, or aroma. Derived from GRAS-based botanical bioactives, Renova is effective across both pre-harvest and post-harvest applications and works on climacteric and non-climacteric crops alike. Field trials demonstrate consistent improvements in fruit size, firmness retention, and storage stability. In bananas, shelf life extension of up to 70 days has been achieved in conventional cold storage. In temperate fruits, firmness and storage potential are significantly enhanced. In citrus, apples, and strawberries, fresh quality markers are measurably improved across extended storage windows. Renova is at TRL 6 — validated across multiple crops in relevant commercial environments — and is positioned for full commercial launch within 18 months. Coatings protect the surface. 1-MCP blocks a single receptor. Renova regulates the biology.

About Hi cell Crop Sciences LLC

Hi Cell Crop Sciences LLC is an agricultural technology company that develops botanical, GRAS-based (Generally Recognized As Safe) bioactive solutions intended to replace hazardous synthetic chemicals in farming and crop protection. Their platform utilizes systemic delivery and novel extraction science to create products that enhance crop resilience, fruit shelf-life, and preservation. The company maintains a research and development facility in Pune, India, featuring laboratory capabilities and a 40,000-square-foot polyhouse for controlled field testing. Their innovation strategy focuses on sustainability, creating formulations that are OMRI/FIFRA 25b compliant or derived from common herbs and spices to meet stringent regulatory standards.

These innovations are designed to support growers by providing safer, scalable alternatives that address complex agricultural challenges such as pest management and post-harvest decay without negatively impacting pollinators or the environment. By focusing on biorational solutions, the company aims to help producers improve yield and quality while adhering to global sustainability goals. Currently, the company operates as a self-funded entity with a focus on markets in India, the US, and the EU, conducting ongoing efficacy validation through internal trials and collaborations with recognized research organizations and universities. They are planning a US-based production facility to support their global growth objectives.
