Fibrillated cellulose represents a transformative biodegradable ingredient rapidly growing in personal care, homecare and other industrial segments due to its unique rheological and physical performance. Fibrillated cellulose is typically produced as a low-solids suspension (2 - 10%), making transport economically inefficient and creating downstream processing challenges due to the high volume of water.
Sappi's latest innovation, Valida dry powder, is one of the first fibrillated cellulose products available in a powder form. The dry Valida is easy to disperse and convenient to use. It eliminates supply chain and downstream application challenges. In the meantime, the same performance as the hydrated version of the product is maintained.
Sappi is looking for partners that are interested to explore this breakthrough technology in shampoo, conditioner, laundry detergent, fabric softener, scent booster, and barrier coating applications. Sappi is happy to be part of the development and scale-up cycle, sharing its vast experience and know-how with respect to processing, performance and troubleshooting for our fibers.
