Tunable engineered exosomes displaying canine inhibitory molecules to suppress activated immune cells and induce tolerance in Type 1 Diabetes. Modular platform targets multiple immune cell types simultaneously, offering potential curative treatment for T1D and other autoimmune diseases.
Entelexo Biotherapeutics has developed a novel platform of engineered therapeutic exosomes designed to treat autoimmune diseases, with an initial focus on Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) in canine models. These tunable exosomes can simultaneously affect multiple types of immune cells, representing a potentially transformative approach to autoimmune disease treatment. The modular technology displays canine inhibitory molecules on the exosome surface, enabling the suppression of activated cells involved in T1D pathology while also inducing immune tolerance—a combination that could lead to curative outcomes rather than mere symptom management.
The technology has achieved initial proof-of-concept with demonstrated ability to suppress immune cells and induce regulatory T cells using PBMC-based assays. The next development phase involves rationally designing therapeutic exosomes specifically targeting canine immune cells, followed by in vitro optimization using proprietary assays with human or canine PBMCs. Upon successful in vitro validation, the program will advance to canine animal studies. The platform is currently at an early-to-mid preclinical stage with strong foundational data supporting further development toward IND-enabling studies and eventual clinical translation.
Entelexo Biotherapeutics is a privately held biotechnology/pharmaceutical manufacturing company founded in 2020 and headquartered in Irvine, California. It focuses on developing modern treatments for complex autoimmune diseases using engineered exosome technology and data-driven optimization approaches.
