The H2OLL AWG system efficiently generates 1,000 liters of pure water per day using a two-stage process with minimal energy consumption. It's scalable, cost-effective, and suitable for various geographical conditions.

Overview

The H2OLL Atmospheric Water Generation (AWG) system represents a breakthrough in water sourcing technology, capable of producing 1,000 liters of high-quality water per day. This system employs a two-stage process that first captures water vapor using a liquid desiccant, followed by an evaporation and condensation process under vacuum conditions. This approach is energy-efficient, eco-friendly, and ensures water free from PFAS and other contaminants. Designed for flexibility, the system operates off-grid and is scalable, making it ideal for diverse environments and conditions.

Technical specifications
  • Two-stage water generation process:
    • First stage: Absorption of water vapor by a liquid desiccant.
    • Second stage: Vacuum-based evaporation and condensation to purify water.
  • Energy efficiency: Consumes half the humidity and energy compared to direct cooling methods.
  • Carbon footprint: Minimal, making it a sustainable choice.
  • Installation: Plug & play, suitable for rooftop deployments and adaptable to various energy sources such as PV and microgrids.
  • Cost efficiency: Produces water at approximately 5 cents per liter, significantly cheaper than bottled alternatives.
Technology readiness level

The H2OLL system is at Technology Readiness Level 8, indicating it has been thoroughly tested and validated and is ready for deployment. The system will be installed, monitored, and evaluated over three months to ensure it meets key performance indicators such as water quality, energy use, and operational reliability.

About H2OLL

H2OLL is an Israeli water technology company that has developed a patented cyclic absorption atmospheric water generation (AWG) system designed to produce clean drinking water in arid and semi-arid climates. Unlike traditional AWGs that rely on energy-intensive cooling to condense moisture, H2OLL utilizes a liquid desiccant to absorb water vapor from dry air—operating efficiently even when absolute humidity is as low as 5g/kg. This salt-based desiccant also serves as a physical barrier and natural sterilizer, preventing biological and chemical contaminants from entering the water. The systems are designed as modular, containerized units capable of integration with various energy sources, providing a scalable, sustainable alternative to trucked or bottled water.

The technology addresses global water scarcity by offering a decentralized, on-site water source for industries, hospitality, real estate, and emergency services. By eliminating the logistics, plastic waste, and variable quality associated with traditional water supply chains, H2OLL aims to provide reliable water security. The company’s systems have been deployed in pilot projects, such as in the Negev Desert, demonstrating the ability to produce 1,000 liters of water per day with significant energy efficiency gains. Originating from research at the Technion—Israel Institute of Technology, H2OLL continues to scale its operations with plans for larger capacity units to support broader community and industrial needs.
