Artemis polymers -unique cutting edge capture technologies for biological manipulation

Artemis® is a patented smart‑polymer platform developed by a Pre-Seed University spinout, designed to capture, concentrate, and manipulate biological organisms with unprecedented selectivity and speed. Artemis uses a synthetic, shelf‑stable polymer architecture that functions reliably in harsh, unprocessed environments.

Modern biotechnology, diagnostics, agriculture, and industrial microbiology all face the same constraints: microbes often occur at extremely low concentrations or are embedded within biofilms, making rapid detection or sampling difficult. Conventional methods depend on laboratory culture, specialised equipment or unstable biological reagents. Artemis is a low‑cost, highly stable capture material that concentrates organisms directly from real‑world matrices (biofilms, fluids, wounds or surfaces) without pre‑processing. This enables faster decision‑making, higher sensitivity and new sensing modalities across sectors.

Artemis is built on highly branched PNIPAM polymers that collapse into a compact globule when they bind live bacteria or fungi. Ligands attached to the polymer create dense arrays of microbial binding sites. On contact, the polymer undergoes a molecular transition, generating measurable optical, thermal, or electrochemical signal while physically aggregating target cells. This behaviour is unique to our unique polymer formulation.

HB‑PNIPAM materials have been validated in over 40 peer‑reviewed publications, demonstrating:

• selective capture of bacterial or fungal organisms
