I am studying how environmental exposures (e.g., PFAS) disrupt mitochondrial function and metabolism to drive disease risk, including fatty liver and ocular outcomes. Seeking collaborators for biomarker development, translational research, and rural community engagement.
I'm looking for
I am looking for funding and collaborators to expand mechanistic and community-engaged research on environmental exposures, focusing on rural health, education, and prevention. Seeking support for translational studies, biomarker development, and outreach programs.
About
My research program investigates how environmental contaminants disrupt bioenergetics at whole-body and tissue-specific levels, including the immune system, liver, skeletal muscle, and ocular system. We examine molecular links among metabolism, inflammation, immune function, and dopamine signaling. Our work defines how mitochondrial energetics respond to and drive dysfunction under stressors such as diet, aging, disease, and toxicant exposure, with emphasis on metabolic regulation, fatty liver disease, and environmentally mediated ocular outcomes. We also address health disparities across populations and lead community outreach to advance environmental exposure education in rural clinics, schools, and underserved communities.
